Currently the Advanced Broadband Connection Subsidy is only available to eligible businesses with a trading address in the Objective 2 'Main' area of Lincolnshire and who take the ICT Innovation Portfolio product.
Businesses who are already connected to Advanced Broadband and have a subsidy coming to an end during 2008 may be eligible for a further 12 month subsidy. Please contact the project team on 01522 550555 for more details.
What is Advanced Broadband?
If you're familiar with a typical broadband connection, you'll be aware that it provides quick access when downloading data from the internet, usually up to ten times faster than using a 'dial-up' method of internet access.
What separates Advanced Broadband from other types of broadband services is the speed that data can be sent to the internet. It's fast - around eight times faster than a typical broadband connection.
It's effectively just as quick for sending data to the internet as it is for downloading data from the internet.
There's also far fewer users sharing the same resource providing the internet access than a typical broadband connection - around 80% fewer users, in fact.
What can Advanced Broadband do for my business?
How do I find out if I can receive Advanced Broadband?

What financial assistance will my business receive?
If you are connecting to Advanced Broadband for the first time as part of the ICT Innovation Portfolio, we will pay your business the £299 connection fee, plus a lump sum contribution to cover a minimum 12 month term. This means the cost to your business is just £49 per month, providing excellent value for receiving a business class, symmetrical broadband connection.
If you are already connected to Advanced Broadband and receive a monthly subsidy from us, if the subsidy is due to finish during 2008 we may be able to provide a further subsidy to cover an additional 12 month's connection. We will be writing to each business who has a subsidy due to expire with the options available.
What happens if I wish to cancel after the subsidy finishes?
Please check the terms and conditions of your chosen Advanced Broadband service provider with regard to termination of service. In most instances, it is likely the duration of service you have entered into is for a 'minimum period' and that you may still be required to serve notice of termination before this point should you no longer wish to continue receiving the service.

For example, if you entered into an 12 month contract matched by an 12 month subsidy and wish to terminate the service at the end of the minimum service period, you may have to inform your service provider after 6 months if they require six months notice. The terms and conditions of each service provider are likely to differ - this is just an illustrative example.
